Brighton & Hove Pride turns 35 this year. To mark it, we are inviting people from across the community to take part in a portrait exhibition celebrating what Pride in this city truly looks like – in all its depth, difference, and humanity.

Call To Action

We’re looking for people from across the community: long-timers and first-timers, organisers and attendees, performers and volunteers, those who’ve been here since the beginning and those who found Pride only recently – whether it be Brighton Bear Weekend, Trans Pride Brighton or Brighton & Hove Pride.

Each portrait will be accompanied by a single sentence about what Pride means to you.

Photographs will be taken by Chris Jepson, award-winning community photographer and founder of Proud Studios CIC. The exhibition will be shown as part of Brighton & Hove Pride 2026.

Who we’re looking for

Anyone who has a genuine connection to Pride in our city – whether it be Brighton Bear Weekend, Trans Pride Brighton or Brighton & Hove Pride. We want the full picture – different ages, backgrounds, identities and relationships to Pride.

We particularly want to hear from people whose faces don’t always appear in Pride photography: older members of the community, disabled LGBTQIA+ people, people of colour, trans and non-binary people, and those who experience Pride from the edges rather than the centre.

If you’ve never been photographed before, that’s fine. If you’ve been photographed a hundred times, that’s fine too.

How to get involved

Complete this short form, and we’ll be in touch.

Photoshoots will be held at The Ledward Centre in Brighton – dates to be confirmed.
