I love being in the majority, just for one day! The feeling of togetherness and excitement is palpable, still, after all these years.

My first year was 1998, when Brighton Pride was still a protest march, rather than a parade and I was given a section of the GIANT rainbow flag to hold. My hands ached by the time we got to the park but it was thrilling!

Proud Brighton – United in Pride.

“This project continues my long-term commitment to photographing LGBTQIA+ lives.
For over thirty years, my work has centred on visibility, authorship and who gets to be seen.
Proud Brighton is a portrait exhibition marking the 35th anniversary of Brighton & Hove Pride.”
