Rainbow Chorus
Rainbow Chorus is Brighton and Hove’s largest community LGBTQ+ SATB choir, celebrating diversity through music since 1997. It began when Pippin Boardman, the choir’s first musical director, started it with eight members at the Brighton Lesbian & Gay Centre. Today the choir has around 80 members across the four classic SATB voice parts, drawing singers from diverse backgrounds and a wide area around the city.
Non-audition and open to all sections of the LGBTQ+ community, the choir offers a supportive space to sing, build confidence and raise the profile of LGBTQ+ people through public performance. Members perform regularly at community events including IDAHOBIT, World AIDS Day and Trans Pride Brighton & Hove, alongside two main concerts a year, under musical director Aneesa Chaudhry.
