Supporting Queer Artists

Part of our mission here at Proud Studios is collaborate on creative projects with LGBTQ+ individuals and marginalised communities to amplify diverse voices and celebrate the richness of unique perspectives.
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of Trans Pride Brighton, last year (2023) Sharon Kilgannon held a short exhibition of her project ’10 Years Of Trans Joy’. We thought the work deserved a wider audience and a more permanent home, so are delighted to present these amazing images.

10 Years of Trans Joy

Sharon Kilgannon has been documenting Brighton’s LGBTQIA+ community for over a decade, generating a rich archive through photography at queer events and portraits generated through empowering collaborations with the sitters. The images here are from Trans Pride Brighton – the first and largest Trans Pride event outside America – which celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2023.

A selection of the images have previously been displayed in the ONCA window gallery from 12 July to 7 August 2023 and at the Ledward Centre from 14 July to 7 August 2023.
