“I was delighted to be asked by Chris to be photographed – is too good an opportunity to miss, and besides, I do love showing off! And I’m proud to be part of a project that gives the queer community more visibility.
“Whenever I am in town or on a bus, I look around and notice that almost everyone else is wearing black or grey, maybe dark blue. That’s why I wear yellow, to inject some colour into the world, and it’s my favourite colour of course. I almost always have positive reactions from people, and the few that don’t like it, I just think how sad that just someone wearing bright colourful clothes can upset them so much!”

Brighton-based artist Dave Pop! creates bright, bold pop art with a splash of cheeky seaside flair. Being queer, for Dave, means living truthfully and joyfully, loving freely, and embracing his full self. For his 50th birthday, he celebrated by sharing his life story on stage – singing, dancing, and being completely himself.
Known for his love of yellow, Dave brings colour and energy wherever he goes.
His advice to queer youth: “Don’t worry about being cool, just try to be yourself, and others will love you for it.”

This is UNCUT — a raw, striking portrait series by award-winning photographer Chris Jepson capturing the power and pride of Queer Joy, shot in a barber’s chair. No filters, no retouching, no compromise. Just bold, beautiful people taking up space exactly as they are.
