Wildblood and Queenie
“Over the past few years we have embraced this social thing called ‘Outfit of the Day’ – an almost daily (meltdowns and HRT permitting) log of our lives together – the clothes we inhabit, and the many autistic, ADHD, menopausal, married adventures we have.
After deciding to ‘be more peacock’ we raided our decades of hoarded treasures, saving nothing for best. Never a duo to be under the stylish influence, just honest usually skint aging queer dears who love their disco, we aim to share the joy, the mundane, the humour and the reality of neurodivergent over 50s life in Brighton as we DJ, campaign, walk the dawg and defy the wiring that tells us change is bad and getting older is to be dreaded.
Talking of the dawg – we are inevitably joined by Arnie, our seven year rescue who came to Brighton from the Azores five years ago complete with no tail, alopecia and lots of Jack attitude.
Be it the dancefloor of Brighton’s nightlife, the galleries at Charleston, the bunker at 1BTN radio, or on the many pebbles of Brighton Beach, we hope to create that sound connection and deliver a moment of dressed up joy one outfit at a time. Like we do.”
Wildblood (they/them) & Queenie (she/her)
Wildblood and Queenie are a legendary lesbian DJ duo and partners in life. Together, they’ve built a world of music, love and queer joy — a space where everyone belongs and the dancefloor feels like home.
For Queenie, being queer means family — a community that protects, celebrates and uplifts. For Wildblood, it’s about embracing the “wonky wonder” of being different and taking pride in never quite fitting in.
They express their shared identity through unapologetic style and presence — their trademark “Outfit of the Daaaaaaaaay” a daily act of visibility and joy.
Moments of being seen come often: from Queenie’s early days at art college when she first realised she was “on the radar,” to Wildblood’s joy in standing proudly beside her Queenie.
Their message to queer kids is simple and powerful: there will always be haters, but your queer family is strong and full of love. Dance like no one’s watching, be proud of who you are and know that your differences make you fabulous.
