About Han

Han is a butch dyke who has pretty recently discovered a love of team sports, through getting involved with trans and queer groups in Brighton.

JOY IS…

Using my body in a way that feels really good, like when I’m playing football! And I love being part of a team that is super friendly and supportive and genuinely inclusive, and where everyone looks out for each other.

Trans joy is being able to play with gender and have fun, and having the freedom to mess around with it without feeling pressure to choose a label, name or pronoun and stick with it forever. I think there’s always more to learn about yourself; gender and gender expression can be a part of that, and it can be joyful and fun.

In a world that often struggles to fully embrace diversity and inclusion, ‘Beyond the Binary – The Spectrum Of Trans Joy’ is a project dedicated to fostering social cohesion and visibility for the trans and intersex community. This fresh initiative from the award-winning queer photographer Chris Jepson seeks to empower and celebrate the trans+ community by showcasing authentic joy through a captivating series of individual and group portraits.
